TFT Set 18 Enchanted Wilds: Overview, Launch Date and Patch Timeline

By · How we make guides · Updated 2026-10-10 · Checked against Set 18, patch 18.4 · 5 min read

TL;DR: TFT Set 18 is Enchanted Wilds, a forest-and-magic set that went live on August 26, 2026 with patch 18.1. Its new mechanic is Wisps, single-use boosts bought from the shop. Patch 18.2 (September 10) buffed struggling comps and cut Wisp and leveling costs, and 18.3 (September 23) was a smaller, focused patch. Patch 18.4, live since October 7, is the current patch.

What is TFT Set 18 Enchanted Wilds?

Enchanted Wilds is the 18th Teamfight Tactics set, built around an enchanted forest. The game’s data at patch 18.3 has 65 champions and 35 traits, plus a hidden Eclipse trait, and Riot’s 18.4 notes add or remove none of them. Riot’s one-line pitch for patch 18.1 named its headliners: the Riftbeasts, Elderwood, a Yeti and the new Wisps mechanic.

The traits lean into the forest. Elderwood gives you plants to place on the board, Fae attracts Pixies, Blossom is built around Wisps, and Ivern, Maokai and Zyra each carry a single-champion trait of their own. Solar and Lunar together unlock the hidden Eclipse trait (with 3 of each on the board, per the League of Legends Wiki, 2026-09-27). Riftbeast, the largest trait with 10 champions, is a pack of jungle monsters topped by the Elder Dragon, which takes up two team slots. At five cost, Lux is the Avatar: per Riot’s Enchanted Wilds overview, she can represent one of nine Origins, and her chosen trait counts twice.

The launch patch also changed two systems, per Riot’s 18.1 notes: the Carousel returned, and units stopped retargeting when they come out of crowd control. Every unit, trait and breakpoint is in the Set 18 champions and traits guide.

When did Set 18 come out?

Set 18 went live on August 26, 2026, with patch 18.1. Riot published the 18.1 patch notes a day earlier, on August 25, and its Enchanted Wilds overview on July 27, 2026, which already named August 26 as launch day. For where Set 18 sits among past sets, see what TFT set are we on.

How do Wisps work?

Wisps are single-use boosts that appear in the rightmost slot of every other shop, ranging from combat power to gold, XP, items, champions, shop effects and risky deals, and you can buy one per round. Riot describes them as an updated version of the Charms mechanic from Set 12, and after stage 5, every other Wisp is a Combat Wisp.

The categories, costs and the Blossom trait’s Wisp upgrades are in the Wisps explainer.

What has changed since launch?

Four patches have shipped as of October 10, 2026. Each row links Riot’s notes.

18.2September 9, 2026September 10, 2026The set’s first main patch, full of buffs for comps that were strugglingCheaper Combat Wisps, less XP needed for levels 8 to 10, and trait buffs to Blackthorn, Coven, Fae, Hunter and Inferno. Rapidfire and Solar were toned down.
18.3September 22, 2026September 23, 2026”a more focused patch”, with smaller, specific champion and trait changes, plus broader buffs to combat augmentsCoven buffed; Defender, Hunter, Inferno and Invoker nerfed; Blossom’s Wisp-related values and several Wisps retuned. Mid-patch updates followed on September 24 and September 28.
18.4October 6, 2026October 7, 2026Moving power from traits into units, buffing lines that underperform and making swingy champions more consistent, with 18.5 planned as a smaller patchNo champions or traits added or removed and no breakpoint changes. Eclipse’s first execute comes after 8 seconds instead of 10. Major Polymorph returns (Riot’s notes call it Greater Polymorph), and all Polymorph Wisps now show up only in the first 2 seconds of a planning phase. Construct-A-Companion, Dark Ritual and Forge-A-Friend are back. Riot later added a B-patch headed October 7 (see below).

Patch 18.2 in more detail

The XP cost of three levels came down in 18.2, then two of them went back up:

Level upBefore 18.218.2After the September 14 mid-patch update
7 to 860 XP56 XP56 XP
8 to 968 XP64 XP68 XP
9 to 1068 XP64 XP68 XP

Riot’s reason for the mid-patch change: 18.2 set out to open up fast 9 play after a reroll-heavy 18.1, but cheaper Wisps, cheaper levels and big buffs together pushed boards full of legendaries to the top.

Patch 18.3 in more detail

Riot framed 18.3 as trimming comps with too high a ceiling and raising ones with too low a floor, with changes across all five unit costs, artifacts, emblems, augments and Wisps. The September 24 mid-patch update nerfed Blackthorn’s Ability Power sacrifice bonus and Kha’Zix, put back some unit changes from the September 14 mid-patch update that had been reverted by mistake, and explained that 18.3 itself had intentionally reverted a targeting change from 18.2.

Patch 18.4 in more detail

18.4 leaves the shape of the set alone: the roster, the unit costs and every trait breakpoint stay as they were. Riot shortened Combat Arrival and Combat Departure by 1 second each, re-enabled the Polymorph Wisp it had switched off on September 28, and added four 0-cost Wisps that can appear from stage 4-1 to 5-7 when you hold under 10 gold. Eclipse, the hidden trait unlocked by Solar and Lunar, now makes its first execute after 8 seconds instead of 10. The Set 18 news log has the full list.

Riot then added a mid-patch update headed October 7 to the top of the 18.4 notes: the 18.4 B-patch, with unit buffs, Wisp and augment changes and bug fixes, and no roster, cost or breakpoint change.

What comes next

Riot’s TFT patch schedule, as read on October 10, 2026, lists 18.5 on October 21, 18.6 on November 4, 18.6B on November 11 and 19.1, the first patch of the next set, on December 1. Riot says any of these dates can change, and its 18.4 notes plan 18.5 as a smaller, more focused patch. For what Riot has said about the next set, see when TFT Set 19 comes out.

How do you learn Set 18?

  1. Learn the roster. The champions and traits guide lists every unit by cost and every trait with its breakpoints.
  2. Learn Wisps. Buying a Wisp can mean spending gold that would otherwise go to interest or levels, so read the Wisps explainer before your first games.
  3. Pick two or three lines. The comps page shows each line’s board, items and level plan, tiered from ranked matches. Its latest refresh, on October 4, predates 18.4.
  4. Brush up the fundamentals. TFT fundamentals, the economy guide, the leveling guide (level costs changed in 18.2, see above), the itemization guide and the positioning guide carry over from set to set.
  5. Read each patch’s notes. Riot has published each set of Set 18 notes the day before the patch went live; the table above links all four.

What does TFTSense do for Set 18?

It reads your screen during a game and coaches live. Its Set 18 release rebuilt the coach for Enchanted Wilds: it recognizes Wisp cards in the shop instead of treating them as champions, and it steers you toward lines from the comps page, which is tiered from ranked matches. The download link starts the Windows installer.
