When Is the New TFT Client Coming Out?

By · How we make guides · Updated 2026-10-11 · Checked against Set 18, patch 18.4 · 6 min read

TL;DR: Riot’s support FAQ, as read on October 11, 2026, says the dedicated TFT PC client should launch on November 3, 2026. Riot’s own account of the delay, an @TFT post on X of September 29, describes one move, from patch 18.4 to patch 18.6, and Riot’s patch schedule puts 18.6 on November 4. Both earlier dates, October 9 in Riot’s June 12 announcement and October 7 in the FAQ as we read it on September 27, fall inside patch 18.4 (October 7 to 20 on Riot’s schedule). Until launch, TFT on PC starts from the League of Legends client, which stays on Riot’s older Hextech engine. Our read: plan on November 3 or patch 18.6 the next day; Riot has not said which.

The new TFT client is Riot’s dedicated PC client for Teamfight Tactics. Since Set 18 launched on August 26, 2026, the game itself runs on Unreal Engine, but on PC you still start it from the League of Legends client, which runs on Hextech, the engine TFT has shared with League. Riot’s plan is a PC client of TFT’s own. This page tracks when it arrives, using only Riot’s pages and posts, and says when we read each one.

The date Riot gives today

As read on October 11, 2026, at about 08:15 UTC, unchanged since our readings of October 6, 7 and 10, Riot’s TFT Unreal Engine Migration FAQ says the new dedicated PC client should launch a few weeks after the migration, on November 3, and that the client stays on Hextech until then. November 3, 2026 is a Tuesday.

Riot’s @TFT account names a patch instead. On September 29 at 16:36 UTC, it said the client would now launch with patch 18.6 rather than 18.4, the patch Riot had announced before, and Riot’s patch schedule lists 18.6 on November 4, a Wednesday.

Riot gives no time of day and no regional rollout. The FAQ shows its first publish date, June 19, 2026, and no edit date. That is why this page says when we read it rather than when Riot changed it.

Every date Riot has given

WhenRiot pageDate given for the client
June 12, 2026 (published)FAQ TFT Unreal Migration on the TFT siteOctober 9, four patches after the August 26 launch

September 29, 2026 (posted)@TFT on XPatch 18.6 (moved from 18.4)
October 6, 7, 10 and 11, 2026 (read)Support FAQNovember 3

The September 27 reading is our own record: we wrote it into the Set 18 news log that day. Riot’s support page keeps no public edit history, so the earlier wording cannot be shown on Riot’s side. Riot’s June 12 article still said October 9 when we read it on October 11, so a page quoting October 9 is quoting that article.

Set against Riot’s patch schedule, the table shows one move, which is how Riot’s own post describes it. Patch 18.4 runs from October 7 until 18.5 on October 21, so October 7 (its first day) and October 9 (its third) both sat on patch 18.4, and the September 29 post moved the launch from that patch to 18.6. Our readings of the FAQ on September 27 (October 7) and October 6 (November 3) bracket the change on Riot’s support page, and the post falls between them.

What else Riot has said about the client

  • June 12, 2026. The PC client would stay on Hextech until a dedicated client arrived a few weeks after the Set 18 launch, and the new client would get an extended PBE of its own.
  • Support FAQ. PBE testing for the new PC client starts on September 14, 2026.
  • September 14, 2026. Riot posted TFT Dev: Full Client, & New Player Experience on its Teamfight Tactics YouTube channel. Its title and description name the full client launch as a topic.
  • September 29, 2026. Riot’s @TFT account said Riot needed extra time to improve the dedicated client and moved its launch to patch 18.6, from 18.4. The post says the move covers the client alone: bug fixes, balance changes and converted cosmetics keep shipping with each patch.
  • October 6, 2026. The patch 18.4 notes, Riot’s newest TFT notes as of October 11, do not mention the client, and neither does the B-patch Riot added at the top of them, headed October 7.

Where November 3 sits in Riot’s calendar

November 11Patch 18.6BTFT patch schedule
December 1Patch 19.1, the first patch of the next setTFT patch schedule

Two things stand out, both from Riot’s own tables. First, the FAQ’s November 3 is the day before patch 18.6, not a patch day, while Riot’s September 29 post ties the launch to patch 18.6 itself. Second, from 18.6B on, TFT’s schedule stops matching League’s: the League schedule has patches on November 18 and December 9, while TFT has November 11 and December 1. Riot’s migration FAQ says TFT’s patch schedule may split from League’s at some point, with no immediate change planned. No Riot page or post we checked ties that split to the client, so read it as a calendar fact, not a plan. Riot also says any patch date can move.

What Riot has not said

  • Which day it means: its FAQ says November 3, and the patch it named on X, 18.6, is on November 4 on its schedule.
  • A time of day or a regional rollout.
  • How to join the client PBE, or whether it is still running.
  • Whether you will still be able to start TFT from the League client after the dedicated client launches.
  • What it means for Mac players. The same FAQ says TFT lost native macOS support with patch 18.1 and lists macOS as available on the PBE only, on patch 18.2b. It does not connect macOS to the new client; can you play TFT on Mac tracks the macOS status patch by patch.
  • Anything for mobile. The TFT mobile app is already separate from the League client, and Riot’s date is for the PC client.

We do not guess at any of these. When Riot answers one, it goes on this page with the date we read it.

What to do until then

Nothing changes yet. On PC, keep starting TFT from the League of Legends client; is TFT part of League of Legends explains how the two fit together today. Riot’s migration FAQ says the move to Unreal does not change your login and that nothing you bought or earned should be lost.

For everything else that has changed in Set 18 so far, see the Set 18 news log, and for the current patch, what TFT set are we on.

How we keep this page current

When the client ships or Riot gives a new date, the change goes in the update log below with the date we read Riot’s page. Riot’s first word on the September move came on X, so check Riot’s FAQ and the @TFT account close to the day.

Update log

  • 2026-10-11: Added Riot’s @TFT post of September 29, which says Riot moved the client launch from patch 18.4 to patch 18.6 to improve the client, and replaced our answer that Riot had given no reason. Our earlier wording said the date had moved twice; Riot’s post describes one move, and both earlier dates fall inside patch 18.4. Corrected the line saying Riot had not tied the client to a patch. Changed the title to name Riot’s FAQ as the source of November 3, added our read of the two dates and a Related guides list. Re-read Riot’s support FAQ at 08:15 UTC: it still says November 3. The next weekly re-read is due October 14.
  • 2026-10-10: Re-read Riot’s support FAQ at 11:07 UTC: it still says November 3. Marked October 7 and Riot’s October 9 Space Gods end date as passed, and noted that the 18.4 B-patch does not mention the client. The next weekly re-read is due October 14.
  • 2026-10-07: First version. Riot’s support FAQ, read on October 6 and again on October 7, gives November 3 for the dedicated PC client.

Frequently asked questions

When is the new TFT client coming out?

Riot's support FAQ, as read on October 11, 2026, says the dedicated TFT PC client should launch on November 3, 2026, a few weeks after the move to Unreal Engine. Riot's own post on X of September 29 describes one move, from patch 18.4 to patch 18.6, and Riot's patch schedule puts 18.6 on November 4. Check Riot's FAQ close to the day.

Is the new TFT client out yet?

No. As of October 11, 2026, TFT on PC still starts from the League of Legends client, and Riot's FAQ says the client stays on Hextech, Riot's older engine, until the dedicated client launches.

Why did the TFT client release date change?

Riot said on X on September 29, 2026 that it needed more time to make the dedicated client better, so it pushed the launch back from patch 18.4, the patch it had announced, to patch 18.6. Only the client moved: the post says bug fixes, balance changes and converted cosmetics still arrive with every patch.

Is there a PBE for the new TFT client?

Riot's support FAQ gives September 14, 2026 as the start of PBE testing for the new PC client, and Riot's June article promised the client an extended PBE. Neither page says how to join or whether the test is still running.

Will I lose my account, skins or progress?

Riot's migration FAQ, which covers the whole move to Unreal, says you keep logging in with the same Riot account, nothing you bought or earned should be lost, and RP stays shared between League and TFT on PC. It says Riot plans to keep cross-play progression between League and TFT, though how it works may change. It gives no separate answer for the dedicated client.
