TFT B-Patch: What It Is, What the 18.4 B-Patch Changed, and Every Set 18 Mid-Patch Update

By · How we make guides · Updated 2026-10-11 · Checked against Set 18, patch 18.4 · 9 min read

TL;DR: A B-patch is Riot’s mid-patch update: bug fixes and targeted balance changes in the middle of a regular patch. The 18.4 B-patch is headed October 7, 2026, sits at the top of Riot’s 18.4 notes, and went live on PC at 03:49 UTC on October 8, per Riot’s @TFT account. It fixes bugs, switches off the Heart of Steel augment and three arenas for now, buffs seven units, and changes eight Wisps (including price corrections for Search Party and Three Me) and ten augments. @TFT said the same update would reach mobile after a few more fixes that week; on October 11, Riot’s notes still said mobile was to follow. Ranked was switched off on all platforms for 7 hours 30 minutes around the release. Every Set 18 patch has had at least one mid-patch update, and Riot’s schedule lists one lettered patch ahead: 18.6B on November 11.

This page keeps Riot’s B-patches in one place, from Riot’s own notes pages, with the day each one is headed and the day we read it. For the full patches, see the Set 18 news log.

What a B-patch is

A regular TFT patch lands about every two weeks on Riot’s patch schedule. A B-patch is a smaller update in between, after the patch is live, to fix bugs and adjust balance the patch got wrong. Riot’s general name for it is a mid-patch update, and its notes use letters for some of them: the 18.3 notes refer to the September 14 update as 18.2 B, the September 24 update is the 18.3 B patch, and the October 7 update is the 18.4 B-Patch. Riot’s migration FAQ also refers to patch 18.2b when it says where macOS is available.

Three things about how Riot publishes them in Set 18:

  • No new article. Riot adds each mid-patch update to the top of that patch’s notes page, under a heading with its date. Riot’s TFT news list, as read on October 11, 2026, has no post after the 18.4 notes and Rundown of October 6.
  • No advance date. None of the Set 18 mid-patch updates appear on Riot’s patch schedule.
  • One scheduled B. The schedule’s only lettered entry among the 25 TFT patches it lists for 2026 (16.2 to 19.2) is 18.6B, on November 11, a week after 18.6. Riot has not said what it will contain.

The 18.4 B-patch (headed October 7, 2026)

Patch 18.4 went live on October 7. Riot’s mid-patch update for it carries the same date. It was not on the 18.4 notes page when we read it at about 18:12 UTC on October 7, and it was there when we read the page again at 11:07 UTC on October 10. Riot’s @TFT account posted that the 18.4B patch was live on PC at 03:49 UTC on October 8 (20:49 Pacific time on October 7). Riot says the update focuses on bug fixes, on disabling a few arenas that hurt performance and on targeted balance changes to units, Wisps and augments, and that it rolls out on PC first, with mobile to follow, to get more players onto it sooner. In its live post, @TFT said Riot still planned a few more fixes that week to bring the update to mobile, along with more fixes for both platforms. When we read the notes page again on October 11, its summary still said PC first, mobile to follow, and gave no mobile date.

Bug fixes

  • Weight the Worth could spawn copies of the Golden Egg.
  • Some champion abilities could disappear before dealing damage.
  • Min Max was missing the Golden Magnetic Remover.
  • Coven Acolyte and Dark Ritual are now limited to 1 per lobby between the two of them.
  • Chosen of the Sun is now limited to 1 per lobby. (The main 18.4 notes had moved it from a Gold to a Silver augment.)

Riot’s summary adds that it is fixing several trait-specific augment bugs that showed up more often than intended.

Switched off for now

WhatWhy, per Riot
Heart of Steel augmentTemporarily disabled to address a bug
Choncc’s Splash Party arenaTemporarily disabled for performance
Night Versus Dawn arenaTemporarily disabled for performance
Bridge of Progress arenaTemporarily disabled for performance

Riot gives no return date for any of them. The main 18.4 notes had raised Heart of Steel’s max Health gain from 16 to 18 and fixed its stacking when the item is equipped during combat.

Units

UnitCostChange
Camille1Ability damage 150/225/375 to 150/225/400 AD
Varus1Mana 30/120 to 20/110
Alistar2Heal 200/260/320 to 230/300/400 AP; ability damage 100/150/225 to 180/270/420 AP
Gromp2AP form: splash damage 160/240/375 to 180/270/435 AP. AD form: base Attack Damage 45 to 50, Attack Speed 0.7 to 0.75
Murkwolf2Empowered attack damage 60/90/135 to 65/100/160 AD
Warwick2Ability damage 215/325/500 to 230/345/535 AD; healing 20% to 25%
Mama Beak3Base Attack Damage 55 to 60
Nidalee4Armor penetration now matches her tooltip, as per the 18.3 fix

Camille’s line repeats the 1- to 3-star values of her change in the main 18.4 notes (150/225/375/640 to 150/225/400/665 AD). The Varus, Gromp and Mama Beak lines add to buffs the main notes had already given them: Varus got Attack Speed there (0.7 to 0.75), Gromp a faster AD-form cast (mana 20/80 to 0/70) and more AP-form splash (to 375 at 3 stars, where the B-patch line starts), and Mama Beak more ability damage (48 to 52 AD at 3 stars). Alistar, Murkwolf and Warwick get their first balance change of the patch here.

Wisps

WispChange
Abandon ShipOnly appears in the first 2 seconds of a planning phase
Stat BoostersArmor and Magic Resist boost 10 to 8; Attack Speed boost 8% to 6%
CombustExplosion damage 12% to 15%
Healing PoolOnly appears when you are missing at least 10 Health
Mana-Rich SoilMana reduction 25/18% to 20/15%
Search PartyPrice 3g/1g to 1g/0g
Thingamajig WispsLess likely to grant Mana Regen boosters
Three MePrice 9g to 10g

Riot says the B-patch corrects the cost of 2 Wisps. Search Party and Three Me are the only price lines, and both end at the prices Riot’s earlier notes had already given (1g/0g in 18.2, 10g in 18.3). The Stat Boosters, Mana-Rich Soil and Thingamajig lines also repeat the 18.3 notes, and Combust ends at the same 15% as 18.3, starting from 12%, its 18.2 value. The Wisps guide compares them line by line.

Riot’s word on the repeated lines

The notes do not explain the repeats, but Riot’s posts on X give context. @TFT’s Ranked shutdown post, covered in the next section, cited critical bugs and rollbacks tied to patch 18.4. Six minutes after @TFT’s post that the B-patch was live, Riot’s Truexy, who presents Riot’s 18.4 Rundown, said the micropatch would fix serious bugs such as crashes and disappearing abilities, correct some rolled-back balance changes, make the Varus, Mama Beak and Gromp buffs bigger and address Abandon Ship’s optimization. The B-patch’s Abandon Ship line limits that Wisp to the first 2 seconds of planning.

Neither post names the rollback lines, but Truexy’s post narrows them down. He lists the bigger Varus, Mama Beak and Gromp buffs and the Abandon Ship fix as small additions on top of the bug fixes. That leaves the lines that repeat earlier notes, Camille’s and six Wisp lines, as the ones that fit his rolled-back balance changes. Camille has been through this before: her 18.2 B nerf was among the changes to five champions that @TFT named on September 23 as rolled back by mistake. That reading is ours; Riot has not confirmed it.

One thing the notes leave open: Riot disabled Challenger’s Grace in the 18.3 B patch on September 24, the main 18.4 notes do not mention it, and the B-patch now changes its duration. Riot has not said when it came back.

What the B-patch did not change

No traits, no XP costs and no roster or unit costs. The notes do not mention macOS or the dedicated PC client.

Ranked was off while the B-patch shipped

Riot switched off Ranked on all platforms on the afternoon of October 7, Pacific time, and turned it back on 55 minutes after the B-patch went live on PC. The times are Riot’s @TFT posts on X:

Time (UTC)Pacific timeRiot’s post
October 7, 21:13October 7, 14:13Ranked queues disabled on all platforms while Riot addressed critical bugs and rollbacks tied to 18.4

Ranked was off for 7 hours 30 minutes. If you see Riot’s Ranked Mode Disabled notice on its support site, it is the one posted at 23:01 UTC on October 7: it was still showing, with no all-clear, when we read the TFT support pages on October 11, while @TFT’s 04:44 UTC post says the queues are back.

Every Set 18 mid-patch update

All dates are Riot’s own headings on each patch’s notes page. Live dates are from Riot’s patch schedule; where @TFT posted a live time on X, it is in the last column. Riot counts the August 31 and September 1 update as one (its third for 18.1), shipped in two parts.

That is seven mid-patch updates across four patches, each 0 to 6 days after the patch went live. 18.1, the first patch on the new engine, had three in its first week; 18.4’s is headed the same day the patch went live.

When is the next B-patch?

Riot does not post mid-patch updates in advance. Its patch schedule, as read on October 11, 2026 (unchanged since October 10), lists:

PatchDate (2026)
18.5October 21
18.6November 4
18.6BNovember 11
19.1December 1

Riot says patches ship on a Wednesday, Pacific time, unless marked otherwise, that any date can change, and suggests checking the schedule a day or two before a patch. Riot’s 18.4 notes plan 18.5 as a smaller, more focused patch. To see whether a mid-patch update has landed, check the top of the current patch’s notes page; Riot’s B-patch text also points players to the Teamfight Tactics social accounts for updates. In Set 18, @TFT on X posted when the 18.2 and 18.4 B-patches went live (September 15 and October 8), so check @TFT for the live time and the notes page for the change list.

Frequently asked questions

What is a B-patch in TFT?

It is Riot's name for a smaller update that lands in the middle of a regular patch, with bug fixes and targeted balance changes. Riot's general term is a mid-patch update; it called the latest one the 18.4 B-Patch. In Set 18, Riot has added each one to the top of that patch's notes page instead of posting a new article.

When did the TFT 18.4 B-patch come out?

Riot's notes head it October 7, 2026, the day patch 18.4 went live. Riot's @TFT account announced it live on PC at 03:49 UTC on October 8, which was 20:49 Pacific time on October 7, with mobile to follow.

What did the TFT 18.4 B-patch change?

Riot fixed bugs, temporarily disabled the Heart of Steel augment and three arenas, buffed seven units (Camille, Varus, Alistar, Gromp, Murkwolf, Warwick and Mama Beak) and fixed Nidalee's armor penetration, listed eight Wisp changes including price corrections for Search Party and Three Me, and changed ten augments. It changed no traits, XP costs or roster.

When is the next TFT B-patch?

Riot does not announce mid-patch updates ahead of time. Its TFT patch schedule, as read on October 11, 2026, lists one lettered patch, 18.6B on November 11, 2026, and lists 18.5 on October 21 with no B-patch. Every Set 18 patch so far has had at least one mid-patch update, 0 to 6 days after it went live. Riot's @TFT account on X announced the 18.2 and 18.4 B-patches as they went live.

Why is Heart of Steel disabled in TFT?

Riot's 18.4 B-patch says it temporarily disabled the Heart of Steel augment to address a bug. It gives no return date. The main 18.4 notes, published a day earlier, had raised its max Health gain from 16 to 18 and fixed its stacking when the item is equipped during combat.

Does the B-patch come to TFT mobile at the same time?

No. Riot's notes say the 18.4 B-patch rolls out on PC first, with mobile to follow, so that more players get it sooner. When @TFT announced it live on PC on October 8, it said Riot still planned a few more fixes that week before the same update reached mobile, plus more fixes for both platforms. When we read the notes page on October 11, 2026, it still said mobile was to follow, with no mobile date.
