Is TFT Ranked Down? Set 18 Queue Shutdowns, Timed From Riot's Posts and Notes

By · How we make guides · Updated 2026-10-11 · Checked against Set 18, patch 18.4 · 6 min read

Short answer: No, going by Riot’s newest word on Ranked, checked on October 11, 2026 at 09:45 UTC. An @TFT post at 04:44 UTC on October 8 (21:44 Pacific on October 7) says Ranked queues are back up, 7 hours 30 minutes after @TFT’s post switching them off on all platforms over critical bugs and rollbacks in patch 18.4. Riot has posted nothing about Ranked since. Its support site still shows a “Ranked Mode Disabled” banner timestamped October 7, with no all-clear: go by @TFT, which is newer, not the banner.

Which Riot channel to check

Riot’s channels did not agree on October 7 and 8, and they still do not. Here is what each one showed then, and what it showed when it was read on October 11 between 09:12 and 09:50 UTC.

Check @TFT first. Of the channels in this table, it was the first to say Ranked was off and the only one to say it was back. The support banner went up later and was still up more than three days after the all-clear, so it cannot tell you whether Ranked is off now. For an outage of the whole game on your server, use the Teamfight Tactics row on Riot Service Status, not the button on the TFT support page, which has no TFT row.

The 18.4 Ranked shutdown, timed

Every time below is the timestamp on Riot’s own post or banner. These are posting times: Riot gave no time at which each server switched over. Pacific is PDT (UTC-7).

Three numbers stand out:

  • 7 h 30 min 16 s between Riot’s off and on posts. In Pacific time the whole shutdown fell on Wednesday, October 7, from 14:13 to 21:44. In Central Europe (CEST) it ran from 23:13 on October 7 to 06:44 on October 8, in Korea (KST) from 06:13 to 13:44 on October 8, and in Sydney (AEDT) from 08:13 to 15:44 on October 8.
  • 55 minutes from the B-patch post to the all-clear. The all-clear quotes the B-patch post. Riot did not say the B-patch was the condition for turning Ranked back on.
  • 1 h 48 min from @TFT’s post to the support banner. When read at 09:45 UTC on October 11, the banner had stayed up 3 days 5 hours past the all-clear.

Riot has not said whether LP or games already in progress were affected while Ranked was off, or why the banner is still up.

Why Riot switched Ranked off

@TFT’s post gives the reason: critical bugs and rollbacks associated with patch 18.4. The banner says only that Riot is investigating an issue. Truexy, whose X profile names him TFT’s live balance lead at Riot, had said the same about 18.4 more than six hours before the shutdown post and apologised for the state it launched in.

The fix that followed was the 18.4 B-patch, which @TFT posted live on PC at 03:49 UTC on October 8. Six minutes later, Truexy described a micropatch. Checked against the B-patch notes, three of the things he named have a matching line there: the fix for abilities disappearing before they deal damage, bigger buffs to Varus (mana), Mama Beak (base Attack Damage) and Gromp (both forms), and Abandon Ship limited to the first 2 seconds of a planning phase. The notes do not mention crashes, and neither the notes nor his post say which lines are the rollbacks or which bug made Riot pull Ranked. Every B-patch line is in the B-patch guide.

This log covers Riot’s 18.1 to 18.4 notes, including every mid-patch section, and @TFT’s posts on X from September 15 to October 11. @TFT’s posts from August 26 to September 14 could not be read in full, so a queue outage Riot announced only on X in that window would be missing.

In the same weeks Riot also switched off single augments, arenas and a Wisp without closing a queue. Those are in the B-patch guide’s table of mid-patch updates.

Party rules that block Ranked without an outage

Riot’s Ranked FAQ, dated March 10, 2026, sets no level requirement: Ranked is open from Level 1. The limits it does set are on parties. Standard Ranked lets players queue in parties of 3, with these tier rules:

Your tierWho you can invite
Iron, Bronze, SilverIron to Gold
GoldIron to Platinum
Platinum, Emerald, DiamondOne rank lower or higher
Master and aboveThe FAQ gives two answers: a duo within 400 LP of each other in one place, solo only in another

Double Up pairs can play ranked at any rank. If Ranked will not start while you are in a party, check its size and tiers against this table before assuming an outage. Riot’s FAQ does not say how the PC client or the mobile app shows a queue you cannot enter.

Frequently asked questions

Is TFT Ranked down on mobile too?

Riot's October 7 post switched Ranked queues off on all platforms, and its all-clear at 04:44 UTC on October 8 named no platform. As checked at 09:45 UTC on October 11, 2026, no later Riot post says Ranked is off anywhere. The 18.4 B-patch is a separate question: @TFT said it went live on PC first, with mobile to follow after a few more fixes that week, and no Riot post or notes line yet says it has reached mobile.

Was Double Up switched off too?

Riot has not said. Its October 7 post said Ranked queues, plural, without listing them, and Riot's Ranked FAQ counts Double Up pairs as ranked play. The one Double Up shutdown Riot has written up in Set 18 is older: the 18.1 notes say a bug that appeared on August 27 led Riot to switch the Double Up queue off, and that it was back by the August 28 update.

Was all of TFT down on October 7, or only Ranked?

Riot's post named Ranked queues only and said nothing about other modes. The status data behind Riot's Service Status site, checked at 09:45 UTC on October 11, 2026, showed no incident or maintenance for Teamfight Tactics in any of the 15 regions checked. It was not read during the outage, so what it showed on October 7 is not known.
