Can You Play TFT on Mac? Native macOS Status in Set 18, Patch by Patch

By · How we make guides · Updated 2026-10-10 · Checked against Set 18, patch 18.4 · 5 min read

TL;DR: Not on the live servers. As read on October 10, 2026, Riot’s support pages say TFT lost native macOS support with patch 18.1 on August 26, 2026, the move to Unreal Engine, and that from patch 18.2 Mac support is limited to the PBE. Intel Macs are not supported; the Mac minimum is an Apple M1 with macOS 12. Riot says it is working to bring macOS back early in Set 18 and has given no date. No patch note since 18.1 mentions macOS.

This page tracks native macOS support for Teamfight Tactics using only Riot’s own pages, with the day we read each one. Riot’s support pages do not keep a public edit history, so a reading date is the best record there is.

Why TFT left the Mac

Set 18, Enchanted Wilds, went live with patch 18.1 on August 26, 2026, and moved TFT from Hextech, the engine it shared with League of Legends, to Unreal Engine. Riot’s Unreal Engine migration FAQ, first published June 19, 2026, lists new minimum specs for that release. Its macOS entry says TFT temporarily loses macOS support with patch 18.1, that Riot is working to bring native macOS support back early in Enchanted Wilds, that your account is not affected, and that you can keep playing on a compatible device. It ends by saying macOS is available on the PBE only, on patch 18.2b.

Riot’s minimum and recommended specs page, updated September 22, 2026, gives the reason in one line: as of patch 18.2, Mac support is limited to PBE servers because of the Unreal Engine migration.

Riot also covered the topic in video. Its Enchanted Wilds PBE check-in of August 13, 2026 lists native macOS support later in Enchanted Wilds among its topics (we read the title and description only, on October 10, 2026).

Riot’s Mac specs

Riot’s specs page lists the same chip, GPU, memory, OS and resolution for the minimum and the recommended Mac. As read on October 10, 2026:

The page notes that TFT does not support Intel Mac configurations. Riot lists these specs right under its PBE-only note and has not published separate specs for a return to the live servers.

What Riot has not said

  • A date, or a patch, for native macOS support on the live servers.
  • Whether macOS returns with the dedicated PC client. Riot’s FAQ gives November 3, 2026 for that client (every date Riot has given) and treats macOS in a separate answer.
  • How Mac players get onto the PBE. Neither support page explains it.

We do not guess at any of these, and this page gives no workaround that Riot does not support. On the live servers, Riot’s supported ways to play are a Windows PC through the League of Legends client and the TFT mobile app.

When we check again

We re-read Riot’s specs page and migration FAQ at each patch. The next checks are patch 18.5 on October 21 and the dedicated client date of November 3. When Riot changes its answer, the change goes in the update log below with the day we read it.

Frequently asked questions

Can you play TFT on Mac right now?

Not on the live servers, as read on October 10, 2026. Riot's support pages say TFT lost native macOS support with patch 18.1 on August 26, 2026, when the game moved to Unreal Engine, and that from patch 18.2 Mac support is limited to the PBE test servers. Riot says it is working to bring native macOS support back early in Set 18, Enchanted Wilds, and has given no date.

When is TFT coming back to Mac?

Riot has not given a date. Its Unreal migration FAQ, as read on October 10, 2026, says Riot is working to bring native macOS support back early in Enchanted Wilds. Riot's schedule lists patch 19.1, the start of the next set, for December 1, 2026. None of Riot's patch notes from 18.1 to 18.4, including the 18.4 B-patch, mention macOS.

Can I play TFT on a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro?

Only on the PBE for now, and only with Apple silicon. Riot's specs page, updated September 22, 2026, lists an Apple M1, a Metal-capable GPU, 8GB of unified memory, 40GB of free storage and macOS 12 as the Mac minimum, and says Intel Macs are not supported. It lists no individual Mac models.

Does TFT work on Intel Macs?

No. Riot's TFT specs page, as read on October 10, 2026, says TFT does not support Intel Mac configurations. Its Mac minimum and recommended specs both name an Apple M1.

Do Mac players lose their TFT account or skins?

Riot's migration FAQ says your account is not affected by the loss of macOS support and that you can keep playing TFT on a compatible device. The same FAQ says nothing you bought or earned should be lost in the move to Unreal Engine.

Will the new TFT client bring back Mac support?

Riot has not said so. Its migration FAQ, as read on October 10, 2026, gives November 3, 2026 for the dedicated PC client and, in a separate answer, says Riot is working on native macOS support. It does not connect the two.
